SB 634 - This act authorizes an annual appropriation to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority for support of the two sports stadiums owned by the public authority, Arrowhead Stadium (home of the Kansas City Chiefs) and Kauffman Stadium (home of the Kansas City Royals), of up to $7 million for each stadium, in addition to amounts previously authorized. Any such appropriation or transfer of money is contingent upon: (1) Renewal or extension of the current Kansas and Missouri Metropolitan Culture District retail sales tax (which is set to expire in 2002); and (2) Renewal or extension of the lease contracts currently in effect for the Chiefs and Royals.
No appropriations are authorized to occur until FY 2006.
